Position
Under general direction, provides career counseling, job search services, employment activities and outreach programs to students and assists with career service events.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of career counseling and development. Good career development skills, coaching and advising skills. Knowledge of District organizations, operations, activities, policies and objectives. Requires considerable knowledge of career development resources and community employers. Ability to perform independently and without supervision all of the essential duties of the position with efficiency and effectiveness with only general supervision. The ability to build solid working relationships and work directly with students and parents in a diverse environment requiring patience and persuasion. Good organizational and computer skills, record keeping and general office skills. Ability to remain current on knowledge of all college degree and certificate programs and to assist students with meeting their career goals. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization and the student. Speaks, listens and writes in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques when communicating with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Knowledge and Experience
Associates degree in related field plus two (2) years of work related experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for planning, coordinating and administering a college career services program applicable to student career planning, job search and employment activities. Develops, implements and monitors programs to assist students in the job search process. Conducts individual student career counseling and individual assistance in resume preparation, occupational research, interviewing techniques, job search strategies, and other career related matters. Conducts student career planning counseling in various settings such as individual, group, telephone, and/or online. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with individuals, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization. Meets with representatives from the local business community to develop employment opportunities activities and events. Utilizes computer software related to career services. Develops and implements special career-related programs and events such as job fairs, career week events, seminars, workshops, and/or other campus initiatives. Conducts various types of workshops regarding job search and career planning; prepares career related information for distribution to students. Recommends new programs and assists in promoting individual student career assessment activities. Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with persons from diverse backgrounds. The ability to provide quality customer service. Performs other duties as assigned.
