Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Position will also require periodic evening and weekend work as well as attendance at overnight, out-of-town trainings.

This position will serve Cluster 1 with a home office located in the UGA Extension office in Oconee County. Travel will be required, including nights and weekend work. Travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with UGA policies.

This is a grant funded position. The grant period closes on September 29, 2020. Continued funding after the end of the grant period is contingent on obtaining other funding sources.

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of a master’s degree with 2 years of related experience, OR completion of a bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience. Experience as an educator and working directly with families preferred.

Position Summary

This position is a classified position funded by a grant from the Administration for Children and Families, Office of Family Assistance (OFA) through the University of Georgia (UGA), Owens Institute for Behavioral Research.

The UGA Healthy Marriage and Relationship Education (HMRE) focuses on creating positive and stable homes through the integration of research-based services designed to improve healthy marriage and relationship skills and promote economic stability. This project is led by Dr. Ted Futris, Associate Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science and Principle Investigator/Project Director. With numerous state and local partners, including the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, Georgia Family Connection, Great Start Georgia, Strengthening Families Georgia, Project Safe, and UGA Extension, the five-year project will reach nearly 1,500 families in a 13-county region in northeast Georgia.

The HMRE Program Coordinator serves as the primary representative for the UGA HMRE Project in Cluster 1 with a home office located in the UGA Extension office in Oconee County and is primarily responsible for community engagement to implement HMRE services, program administration, identifying and supervising community-based facilitators who will deliver HMRE services, monitoring and evaluating program implementation efforts, and performing other duties deemed necessary by the HMRE Project Coordinator.

Ability to effectively communicate with at-risk individuals and couples.

Ability to plan and implement required project components described below.

Ability to implement, evaluate and insure compliance with research protocols.

Ability to supervise the work of community-based facilitators and student interns.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills. Basic word processing and data entry skills.

Exceptional organization skills and a high level of initiative. Demonstrate professional behavior.

Knowledge of community resources within assigned counties.

Work as a team member with Cooperative Extension offices, Division of Family and Children Services, Family Connection Partnership, and other community partners.

Evening and weekend work, travel throughout the assigned area and attendance at overnight out-of-town meetings and trainings. Driver’s license, insurance and personal vehicle for official duty travel required. Mileage will be reimbursed in accordance with UGA policies.

Community Engagement – Develop and maintain community partnerships to successfully implement HMRE services and establish referral sources. Attend meetings held by community partners. Promote community awareness of the HMRE services through community organizations, events and other local programs and activities. Prepare letters, press releases, informational brochures, and other media related to the project.

Program Administration – Recruit families to the project. Identify, hire, and supervise community-based facilitators who will deliver HMRE services. Participate in HMRE trainings and supervise the work of community-based facilitators in delivering the established curriculum, substituting as facilitator when necessary. Supervise UGA student interns to support family engagement, case management, and other HMRE services. Make home visits and phone calls to families for recruitment, retention and other purposes related to the HMRE project. Identify and prepare meeting spaces for program implementation. Arrange catering services as well as services to meet transportation and childcare needs of participating families. Assist facilitators in evaluating program implementation, resolving problems, and assuring quality and fidelity of program delivery.

Monitoring and Evaluation – Document recruitment, retention, attendance, and assessment progress data. Complete administrative and quality assurance paperwork. Gather and maintain contact information for families. Insure that participant attendance and other information are reported accurately. Maintain confidentiality of participants’ information collected for research purposes, as defined by the UGA IRB policies. Prepare reports as requested. Participate in regularly scheduled project-related meetings.
