The Institute of Biomaterials & Biomedical Engineering (IBBME) is a multidisciplinary research community where investigators across engineering, medicine and dentistry collaborate to develop innovative solutions that address global challenges in human health. Located in the heart of Canada’s largest health-care research network, our faculty offer quality education to students who receive training in biomedical and clinical engineering. These highly experienced faculty have been involved in launching more than 20 start-up companies and driving three major biomedical engineering commercialization ventures.

Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Education Officer, the Industrial Program Manager & Internship Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing internship and professional development initiatives for The Institute of Biomaterials & Biomedical Engineering. The incumbent is responsible bringing together various groups – students, faculty, and industry partners – involved in the development and delivery of internship experiences that meet the established goals and criteria of the institute.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Researching and recommending new opportunities for external collaborations and partnerships
  • Researching and analyzing potential employers and recommending student placement opportunities
  • Promoting programs at recruitment events
  • Implementing plans that support the development of work-integrated learning opportunities for students
  • Evaluating and recommending appropriate work-integrated learning opportunities for students
  • Reviewing and assessing student applications for admission into the program
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars



CampusEssential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science and/or business, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum five years of related experience with facilitating student job search and/ or co-operative learning and/or internship programs
  • Experience with program coordination, development and design
  • Experience with creating communications for print and/or web
  • Demonstrated experience implementing a variety of successful, creative, persuasive and cost-effective development projects through the planning, piloting, delivery and evaluation stages
  • Proven ability to forge new partnership and lead the development and implementation of high profile, multi-stakeholder initiatives
  • Knowledge of labour market trends and resources
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet applications
  • Highly developed communication (oral and written), public speaking and presentation skills
  • Excellent relationship management and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Strong service orientation with sensitivity to various levels of expectation from program participants, faculty, staff and partners
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Occasional overnight regional travel may be required.
