Job Summary
The Speech Language Pathologist is responsiblefor intensive instruction and/or diagnostic assessments for individuals withoral and/or written language disorders, including the written language disorderof dyslexia, speech disorders and/or hearing impairments.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assessment of and instruction for individualswith oral and/or written language disorders, including the written languagedisorder of dyslexia, speech disorders and/or hearing impairments.

  2. Conducts conferences with colleagues, parentsand school district personnel, as appropriate, on issues related to theprogram, students enrolled and potential enrollees.

  3. Supervises University clinicians, studentworkers and volunteers in clinical practicum.

  4. Writes reports and maintains student records.

  5. Works cooperatively with other staff members todetermine appropriate services for students.

  6. Adheres to department policies,procedures, and regulations and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology; preparation in theimplementation of the DuBard Association Method, which is the basis of theschool curriculum, required and available through the DuBard School.

Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesUtilizes fax machine, PC, Word, Excel, FileMaker database, ImageNow, Internet,photocopy machine, and telephone.

Preferred Qualifications Certificate of Clinical Competence in SpeechLanguage Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. CFYcandidates are eligible. Demonstrates initiative to learn new skills. Performs word processing, document and datamanagement with accuracy and punctuality. Demonstrates excellent communicationskills, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills for dealing withstudents, parents, staff, persons inquiring about services, and otherUniversity personnel and departments. Possesses strong organizational skills,is detail-oriented and has excellent record keeping skills.

Must hold State Certification from theMississippi Department of Education. Speech-language pathology licensure from the Mississippi Department ofEducation; licensure from the Mississippi Board of Health required foroutclient therapy program; "highly qualified" status under No ChildLeft Behind (NCLB) regulations may be required.
