Kinesiology Program – Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, invites applications for a full-time, Tenure-Track, Open-Rank position in the Kinesiology Program beginning in August of the 2020-2021 academic year. 

Augustana College is a selective private liberal arts and sciences college of approximately 2,500 students, most of whom live on a wooded 115-acre campus.  Rock Island, Illinois, is part of the Illinois-Iowa Quad Cities along the Mississippi River, a diverse metropolitan area with 400,000 residents, located about three hours west of Chicago.

The new kinesiology program builds upon the college’s renowned and rigorous programs in the sciences, public health, and pre-health and contributes to developing one of the most comprehensive approaches to academic health and wellness programs at a small liberal arts college. Applicants should be interested in teaching a broad range of undergraduate Kinesiology courses.  Projected teaching responsibilities include Introduction to Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Testing and Prescription for Special Populations, senior capstone (Senior Inquiry), and/or other specialty of the candidate. PhD is required in Kinesiology or related field by August 2020; candidates with ACSM certification is preferred.

A strong candidate will demonstrate: a commitment to creative and engaging undergraduate teaching and academic advising; a commitment to pursue a program of scholarship that includes undergraduate students, publishing in professional journals, and presenting at regional, state, and national conferences; and a willingness to serve the college, department, profession, and community.
