Position Summary:

The Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, is hiring a Community Outreach Specialist to support activities related to viral hepatitis outbreak prevention and response. This is a contract position with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, which will be based in the State Office Building at 1 West Wilson Street in Madison. The candidate will work under Dr. Stephanie Schauer in the Immunization Program, within the Division of Public Health. The Viral Hepatitis Prevention Outreach Specialist is a new position that supports public health activities related to prevention and control of hepatitis A virus (HAV) infection. This position will help develop, conduct, and document internal and external partner communications and outreach effort to help hepatitis A preparedness and prevention efforts in Wisconsin. This position will be responsible for reaching out to new and existing community partners to help increase immunization rates throughout Wisconsin and prevent outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases. They will work to streamline multiple hepatitis A virus (HAV) outbreak prevention and preparedness measures and increase Hepatitis A vaccine uptake in at risk groups. The Community Outreach Specialist will focus their efforts on working with partners who serve populations who are vulnerable and at risk of contracting vaccine preventable diseases.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

-Training or experience in outreach experience is strongly preferred
-Project management experience is preferred
-Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills that contributes to positive partnership development
-Ability to manage work responsibilities with flexibility and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines
-Ability to communicate effectively using a variety of methods and technologies.

Additional Information:

Position to last 1 year. There is a possibility it may be extended if there is a need for an ongoing appointment and/or funding becomes available.
