The Department of English at Gettysburg College seeks a Lecturer in Rhetoric and Composition and Coordinator of First-Year Writing and the Writing Center, for a three-year term, beginning in August 2020, with possibility of renewal. In addition to teaching five courses each year, including first-year writing and upper level courses in their field, the candidate will serve as Coordinator of the Writing Center, training and supervising student tutors to assist students of all disciplines. The candidate will also serve as Coordinator of First-Year Writing, assisting the department in leading the College’s first-year writing program, with duties to include assessing and overseeing curricula, and developing programmatic goals that connect the learning outcomes of introductory writing courses to intermediate and advanced coursework. The ideal candidate will be an experienced writing program administrator and instructor who demonstrates specialization in at least one of the following areas: writing center and program administration, writing program assessment, or composition theory and pedagogy.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in rhetoric and composition or closely related field by time of appointment is required. The successful candidate will be committed to the teaching and advising of undergraduates, and contribute to the diversity of our curriculum and/or community.
