Job Description:

The College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass Amherst) invites applications for tenure-track faculty at the Associate and Assistant Professor levels in Information Retrieval (IR). Exceptional candidates at other ranks may be considered. Candidates are expected to build on and complement the internationally recognized strength in IR at UMass. The Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval has been an important part of the research that has led to search engines being one of the most-used information technologies in current mobile and desktop environments. We are looking for a candidate to lead initiatives in conversational search, neural IR models, new approaches to interaction, or other developing areas of the field. Requirements:

Before starting in this position, applicants must hold a PhD in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related area and should show evidence of exceptional research promise. A record of applying computer science in another discipline is strongly preferred.
