The Assistant Dean isresponsible for assisting the Dean in leading both academic and operationalaspects of the division that support the college’s mission through thesupervision, development and management of the faculty and curriculum. Reportingto the Dean for Health Professions and Public Service, the Assistant Deanprovides leadership and support regarding the hiring, training, supervision,and evaluation of adjunct faculty and laboratory staff;and assists with curriculum planning, scheduling, budgeting, program accreditationsand division activities. The Assistant Dean also serves as the NurseAdministrator for the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and Nursing Assistant(CNA) programs.

Responsibilities

Supervise adjunct faculty including but not limited to, hiring, orientation, training, evaluation, syllabi review and academic support.

Assign adjunct faculty teaching loads as appropriate and in compliance with college policy and the credit adjunct faculty collective bargaining agreement.

Overall coordination includingplanning, implementation and evaluation of the ADN and CNA programs as definedby the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Nurse Practice Act, andAccreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

Support the internal andexternal reporting requirements such as state, federal, and program accreditation.

Assist the Dean in developingand supporting external partnerships and communities with industry leaders thatpromote and support the division.

Assist in the planning,development and implementation of the division schedule, curriculum and qualityinstruction and other program-related initiatives.

Assist the Dean in budgetdevelopment, fiscal monitoring and other related administrative activities thatsupport the division goals and strategic initiatives.

Serve as the initial contactto address and resolve student issues and complaints for the ADN and CNA programs and adjunct-led programs.

Serve as a member of theadministrative team by participating on college committees, representing thecollege professionally in the district, and developing effective andcollaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to addressissues that relate to both instruction and the overall mission of the college.

Perform other duties asassigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher requiredwith a major in Nursing.

Current licenseas a registered professional nurse in Illinois.

Two years’ experience in clinical nursing practice.

Two years’ experience as an instructor in an RN (or higher) nursing education program.

Excellentinterpersonal communication (written and oral), time and project managementskills.

Ability tomanage shifting priorities and multiple demanding projects.

Demonstratedability toestablish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff and students of diversebackgrounds, as well as a deep commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusionrequired.
