Position Summary:

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Florida Atlantic University seeks qualified applicants for a non-tenure-track, nine-month full-time Instructor position to begin in August 2020 to teach undergraduate classes in Organic Chemistry. Florida Atlantic University, a public university in Boca Raton, Florida is recognized as one of the most diverse student bodies in the nation with five satellite campuses in the Florida cities of Dania Beach, Davie, Fort Lauderdale, Jupiter and in Fort Pierce at the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution. With over 30,000 students the university is continuing to build nationally recognized research programs while maintaining excellence in teaching. The position is based on the main campus in Boca Raton, Florida, a vibrant community in South Florida located about a mile from the Atlantic Ocean.

The Organic Chemistry instructor will teach lecture and laboratory courses in organic chemistry and possibly other lower division chemistry courses and may also include supervision of teaching assistants. Additional summer teaching may be available pending department needs and budget approval; however, summer assignments are not guaranteed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Chemistry and college-level teaching experience, of at least one academic year, lecture, or laboratory, in chemistry or a closely related discipline are required.

Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching.

Degrees from outside the United States must be validated by an organization belonging to the National Association of Credential Evaluation Service (NACES), with an indication of the documents the evaluation was prepared from (official transcripts, diplomas, dissertation abstracts). The evaluation should be scanned and electronically attached to one's application as with other US-based transcripts.

Prior to appointment, the candidate must submit official, sealed transcripts from all institutions where graduate coursework was attempted, whether or not a degree was obtained, as well as an original NACES evaluation, if applicable. Transcripts must be issued to Florida Atlantic University not to you as the student.
