Job Description

The College of Liberal and Professional Studies in the University of Pennsylvania's School of Arts and Sciences is dedicated to extending learning beyond traditional borders and engages a richly diverse population of intellectually capable students at many points in their lives. LPS programs include professional and academic programs (including study abroad and English language programs for international students and professionals), summer sessions, non-credit programs, workshops, and symposia. LPS programs all have a foundation in the arts and sciences. Each year LPS offers credit courses for undergraduate and graduate, degree and nondegree students as well as non-credit courses focused on areas such as personal enrichment, professional development, and English as a second language.


The Admissions Specialist supports effective communication to LPS applicants and admitted students through prompt and accurate response to inquiries via phone, walk-ins, email, and U.S. mail and through smooth hand-off of prospective student questions to recruitment and program staff. This position processes applications according to accuracy and timeline targets to support application goals; monitors applicant data in the online application/admission system (CollegeNet); updates applicant records; and monitors progress of pending applications until complete. S/he also retrieves student data from the University Student Registration System (SRS), runs routine application and admissions reports, and routes completed applications to admissions committees for review. The Specialist posts admissions decision letters and works closely with LPS Student Records staff to ensure post-decision applicant data and official transcript verifications are correct.

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required in an office setting with public/customer contact. Bachelor's degree strongly preferred; Intermediate understanding of databases, excellent written and oral communication skills; strong typing, organizational, and computer skills; and intermediate level skills in MS Office required.

Experience using CollegeNet or other CRM strongly preferred. Experience in an academic environment. Knowledge of SRS (referenced above) or similar system for collecting student data (e.g., Banner).
