Departmental Overview
University Health Services (UHS) is looking for a licensed psychologist to work with a team of talented professionals in their Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) unit, and who share a passion for providing exceptional and comprehensive psychological and counseling services to university students. CAPS is a highly utilized, comprehensive, student counseling service that assists students with a wide range of concerns, including academic success, life management, career and life planning, crisis management, and emotional and psychiatric illness. Performing under the general supervision of the Director of CAPS, CAPS staff provides a variety of services for students including career assessment and counseling, brief psychotherapy, crisis assessment and intervention, couples counseling, group counseling, and case management for complex medical and psychiatric illnesses.
Counseling staff also offer psycho-educational programs to students and provide consultation to faculty and staff regarding student concerns. Counselors are a multicultural group of social workers and clinical and counseling psychologists. CAPS also has an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited pre-doctoral internship training program. UHS, located at the Tang Center, serves the University of California, Berkeley campus by providing fully accredited primary and urgent medical care, sports medicine, mental health, innovative health promotion and health insurance services to students, as well as a variety of faculty and staff health programs and services. Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the CAPS Interim Clinical Director, the Per Diem Clinical Social Worker provides mental health care, case management and support, in collaboration with UHS psychiatrists and CAPS psychologists and other social workers. Most services will be provided in the CAPS unit at UHS.
