McDaniel College’s Graduate and Professional Studies invites applications for the position of Lecturer/Area Coordinator for its Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction program. Review of applications will begin on December 15, 2019 and continue until the position is filled.

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching at the elementary and/or secondary level. They will be knowledgeable about curriculum and instructional theory and be prepared to engage in the refinement of a program that places teachers as leaders in the areas of educational equity, access, and innovation. Public school system or higher education level leadership experience is desirable. Understanding of and experience with online teaching is expected.

Duties

The Lecturer/Area Coordinator cultivates the current program and participates in its revision. The candidate will be responsible for leadership of the quality of course delivery across multiple platforms, which includes the support and professional development of adjunct faculty.

Duties include a 2/2 teaching load with summer administrative responsibilities. Participation in activities that contribute to the strategic plan of McDaniel’s Graduate and Professional Studies is required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required, Doctoral degree preferred
  • Commitment to teacher education
  • Teaching experience at the elementary and/or secondary level preferred
  • Teaching experience in higher education, graduate level preferred 
  • Ability to gain the confidence of students, faculty, administrators, and professionals in the field
  • Support of the goals established within Graduate and Professional Studies at McDaniel College
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion as deemed necessary
  • Technological literacy
