Summary:

The Department of English at Marian University, a Catholic, comprehensive, regional institution of higher education invites applications for tenure-track assistant or associate professor of American Literature. Areas of expertise in one or more of the following multicultural fields is especially desired: African diaspora, postcolonial, transatlantic/transpacific literatures. Demonstrated ability and motivation to teach undergraduates, majors, and non-majors are essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit leadership interest and potential, promote academic excellence, actively participate in the life of the campus and help advance the institution.
  • Teach 12 credit hours per semester including the required general education composition course, various literature courses, and other required courses in the major as necessary.
  • Advance student learning through engaged teaching, mentoring, advising, community building.
  • Be involved in service to the university and engaged in research and scholarship.
  • Embrace a student-centered culture, and be a part of a dedicated team of faculty and staff.

  • Ph.D.in AmericanLiterature,expertisein multicultural fields
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence in higher education.
  • Evidence of self-motivation, enthusiasm for collaborative, co-curricular work.
  • Evidence of research agenda relevant to classroom teaching.
