Job Description:


Dean College's Joan Phelps Palladino School of Dance is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator in its Spring 2020 academic term as an adjunct professor of Dance for the semester course DAN 205: Partnering Techniques. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.


This is an introductory course designed to teach dance students the basic elements of partnering techniques, including the science and mechanics of weight, support, momentum, counterbalance, and anatomical efficiency, as they relate to contemporary dance forms.


The Joan Phelps Palladino School of Dance provides a course charter with course objectives and learning outcomes, sample syllabi, and the course materials (i.e., course readings) for the class.


  • Teach coursework in principles of beginning-advanced modern and contemporary partnering techniques to undergraduate Dance majors, based on a sound anatomical model;
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:


  • Evidence of excellence in studio teaching at a professional or higher education level, as well as expertise in modern dance, repertoire, choreography, and partnering, are required;
  • Maintain currency in the field;
  • Ability to teach all levels of beginning-advanced modern and contemporary partnering techniques, beginner to advanced.
