General Description / Primary Purpose

The Construction Management (CM) Department within the College of Computing, Engineering, and Construction is seeking applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track Instructor (9-month appointment) to start August 2020. The teaching load includes four courses per semester equating to twelve credit hours and one in the summer. The department is looking for applicants that will strengthen and complement the existing Construction Management faculty regarding teaching and research.

ACCE & ABET accredit the construction management undergraduate program and a Masters degree program is in the final stages of approval. Our students recently enjoyed national success in the ABC and NAHB student competitions and have lately had a 100% job placement rate upon graduation with very competitive salaries.

Essential Duties

Job Function

1.Teach 4 undergraduate courses in the fall and spring semesters with an option to teach in the summer within the Construction Management program.
2.Work with the department on developing the required documents for accreditation.
3.Work with and mentor student organizations, clubs, and competition teams;
4.Collaborate with related disciplines, industry partners, and the first coast community;

1.Master’s degree in construction management or related field (MSc, CE, MBA, MSM, or Architecture) by the position start date.
2.Ability to communicate effectively, work cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, conduct themselves professionally, and perform appropriate service functions at the department, college, and university level.

Departmental Requirements

Preferred Qualifications
1.Relevant teaching experience, with preference given to teaching experience in higher education.
2.Relevant professional experience in the United States construction industry.
3.Professional certifications or licenses related to the construction industry.
4.Competency in construction management software applications.
5.Ability to teach an integrated curriculum applied to a variety of construction building areas including: design management, jobsite management, residential, commercial, and heavy civil.
