Associate degree or the equivalent and one year of experience working with non-traditional adult students. Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish. Must be familiar with grant- funded education programs and possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

Advance courses in related field. Experience with special needs students, adult education assessments (such as TABE, CASAS, and BEST), TANF clientele and educationally disadvantaged adults in community college setting. Be organized, dependable, well mannered, and sensitive to multi-cultural, educationally and financially disadvantage population.

Job Summary

The Assessment & Instructional Resources Specialist will assist with the assessment of students, and will also assist special needs students with the accommodation process. The duties and responsibilities may change as needs of the College arise.

Specific Job Duties

•Schedule and conduct post-testing sessions for new and returning ESL, ABE, HSE, and Bridge students in Adult Education programs as needed.
•Travel to off-campus sites to conduct post-testing activities as needed.
•Generate student attendance reports and make a list of students requiring post-tests as needed.
•Assist Transition Coach in programming initiatives such as Orientations, Job Fairs, Open Houses, and various other outreach programs to recruit and retain existing and potential adult learners.
•Assist the Assessment/ Retention/ Transition Specialist with orientation sessions.
•Maintain an adequate supply of test booklets, answer sheets, etc. at all times by keeping an inventory record and ordering materials as necessary.
•Maintain historical record regarding use of testing materials by being the curator of test forms no longer in use.
•Assist special needs students with the accommodation process
•Create and maintain a referral process for students with special needs and keep record of disposition/ outcome.
•Be familiar with state and federal guidelines concerning student assessments and attendance.
•Be familiar with state and federal guidelines concerning students with special needs.
•Assist with ABE/ASE and ESL Placement.
•Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Grants and Compliance of Adult & Community Education.
