Professor of Practice in Asian Philosophy with significant competence in Buddhism, additional competence in Moral Philosophy or Philosophy of Mind preferred but not required. 3 courses/semester. This Professor would teach Buddhism, a course which is highly in demand, and may introduce courses in other areas of Asian Philosophy not now covered by the department. Our department has special strengths in ethics and philosophy of mind; the ability to work in some aspect of Asian thought that is related to those strengths would be an added benefit. Professors of practice are non-tenure track but continuing positions with full benefits, and with opportunities for long-term employment and increases in compensation. Professors of practice focus primarily on teaching and continued employment depends largely on quality of teaching.

Qualifications:

PhD by time of employment. Significant Evidence of strong teaching skills. Area of Specialization: Asian Philosophy, with signficant knowledge of Buddhist thought. Areas of Competence: Ethics or Philosophy of Mind/Psychology are desirable but not required.
