The School of Engineering & Technology at the University of Washington Tacoma is seeking applications for one full-time Lecturer position for the Computer Science program. This position is a full-time, non-tenure track, 9-month renewable position with an initial appointment term up to three years beginning September 2020. Reappointments after the initial term are from 3-5 years. Successful candidates will be expected to commit to high-quality teaching and excellent communication. Priority areas are: computer architecture, distributed/operating systems, computer ethics, though qualified applicants in any area of computer science are encouraged to apply.

The University of Washington Tacoma, one of three UW campuses, is an urban undergraduate and graduate level campus that is changing the face of its region economically, culturally, and architecturally. The School of Engineering and Technology (SET), formerly known as the Institute of Technology, was created in 2001 through a public/private partnership to address the critical industry demand for baccalaureate and masters level computing and engineering professionals. SET’s 850+ students are currently enrolled in four undergraduate degree programs: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Systems (ABET accredited), Computer Science and Systems (ABET accredited), and Information Technology, in addition to a Master of Science degree program in Computer Science and Systems, and a professional master’s degree program in Cybersecurity and Leadership, in partnership with UW Tacoma’s Milgard School of Business. SET will expand its degree offerings with state approved support to launch programs in Mechanical Engineering in Autumn 2020 and Civil Engineering in Autumn 2021. Our MS in Computer Science and Systems has recently introduced interdisciplinary, data centric degree concentrations that leverage research strengths within the department and across academic units on campus. Concentration areas include: Data Science, GIS, Bioinformatics, Distributed Systems, Cybersecurity and Cyber-Physical Systems. An MS program in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a PhD in Computing is also in development.
