The Department of Art, Design and Visual Studiesat Boise State University invites applications for a full-time tenure-trackAssistant Professor in Digital Illustration beginning in Fall 2020. Applicantsshould have a strong record of professional experience in Illustration. Anideal candidate will have expertise in Animation or related fields.

 

 

 

Established in 1993, the BFA in Illustrationprogram has maintained high demand amongst students with roughly 65 currentmajors. The candidate will contribute to expanding the digital aspects of theprogram utilizing the support of the four computer labs in the brand new, stateof the art Center for the Visual Arts. They will have a strong commitment to teachingand fostering the creative growth of undergraduate students. An ideal candidatewill have an interest in participating in shared departmental teaching in bothundergraduate courses and our vibrant and growing interdisciplinary MFAprogram.

 

 

 

Responsibilitiesand Opportunities include:

 

 

  • Teach courses in Illustration. The standardteaching load is three courses per semester with the possibility of a teachingreduction for start-up curriculum development and participation in the graduateprogram.
  • Contribute to shared departmental courses.Collaborative teaching outside the department may also be available.
  • Student advising.
  • Maintain an active presence in the field throughcreative work and/or professional activities.
  • Development and governance of the departmentthrough serving with colleagues on committees and/or other departmentalresponsibilities.

 

MinimumQualifications:

 

 

  • MFA in Visual Art or terminal degree in relatedfield.
  • Demonstrated professional success in commercial orclient based work or other creative work.
  • A broad understanding of professional practices inillustration including fluency in digital technologies.
  • Evidence of a commitment to working with diversestudent populations and non-traditional students.

 

PreferredQualifications:

 

 

  • A broad understanding of professionalpractices in animation or related fields.
  • Demonstrated success in teachingillustration, animation, or related field.
  • Two years post-graduate teaching experience.
  • Evidence of professional or creative activity atthe national or international level.
