This is a full-time Faculty (FAC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.

  • Teaches lecture and laboratory sections
  • Evaluates students and performs career and academic advising
  • Plans and organizes instructional materials to meet course objectives
  • Participates in a variety of Departmental, Campus and College-wide programs, activities and committees and develops curricula
  • Prepares and submits student information to Department Chairperson
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Master’s degree in English or Linguistics; or Master’s in Fine Arts in Creative Writing; or Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in English/Creative Writing or a concentration of writing related courses from the above disciplines. In addition, for ENC2300 and LIT2480, six graduate hours in Oral Communications required. Check English Education to be sure they are not methodology courses.
  • All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Familiarity with and use of collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction
  • Ability to function well in a technological environment and willing to use technological tools in instruction
  • Possess excellent communication skills and ablity to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skills
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff and the community
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
  • Doctoral Stipend awarded in addition to base salary, as applicable
  • Start date for this Faculty position is anticipated to begin by Fall 2020
