Basic Function

NOVA Workforce is seeking an experienced Microsoft Office instructor/trainer to teach non-credit, instructor led courses and training programs. This posting is primarily to teach day-long Saturday classes at the Woodbridge campus. Opportunities to teach at other campuses/times may be available.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:
•Provide hands-on instruction and practical training in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
•Teach courses from beginning level to advance.
•Create instructional materials (course outlines, syllabi, student handouts, hands-on exercises, and training aids).
•Curriculum design and development.
•Assist in class scheduling and program management.

Minimum Qualifications

•Associate’s Degree.
•At least a couple of years experience teaching Microsoft Office courses.
•Experience teaching adult learners.
•Experience in curriculum design and development.

Preferred Qualifications

•Bachelor’s Degree.
•Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification.
•Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) certification.
•Previous experience in an educational or training setting.
•Experience using Microsoft Office applications in a professional corporate environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•Excellent organizational skills and classroom management skills.
•Ability to communicate complex subjects in a clear and engaging way.
•Ability to work with groups of varying ages, and skills level.
•Ability to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability to work individually as well as on a team.
•Must be a self-starter and innovative thinker.
•Experience teaching “boot camp” style training courses is a plus.
