MINIMUM PAY RATE:$12.00 per hour

Position SummaryThis is an “hours as needed” position throughout the year with no weekly guarantee of hours, to assist with retail operations of the Joliet Junior College Bookstore. Provides excellent customer service and assistance as necessary and directed. Receives payment, makes change accurately and obtains credit authorization as necessary for retail transactions. Assists with upkeeping, organizing and stocking retail shop, setting displays, inventories and requisitions. Requires standing, walking, bending, climbing throughout the entire work day and the ability to lift, stack and maneuver objects.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Provide excellent customer service to all Bookstore patrons.
2.Secure customer belongings prior to entering store and return when existing store.
3.Operate cash registers, including cash/check/credit card transactions, financial aid/job training grants/scholarships, refunds/exchanges, book buyback, department/desk copy charges, etc.
4.Receive and direct customers, answer telephones, handle inquiries, complaints, and other customer service functions.
5.Create store product records in BookLog POS system for new merchandise. Work with multiple database systems: BookLog,Colleague, MS Office, ecommerce online ordering software, and other related bookstore software.
6.Handle merchandise from dock to shelf including POS data entry.
7.Process online/phone book orders including packaging & shipping, and maintain related records.
8.Assist with physical inventory throughout the year.
9.Assist with merchandising/display of books and all merchandise in store.
10.Assist with general maintenance of store.
11.Assist at Romeoville Campus site as needed during the year.
12.Perform other duties as assigned.
1.High School Diploma or equivalent.
2.Self-motivated, energetic team player with multi-tasking abilities.
3.Basic math aptitude and strong written/oral communication skills.
4.Ability to operate basic office equipment including PC/cash register.
5.Schedule availability must include morning, afternoons, evenings and extended hours during rush.
6.Must be available to work required days and hours during rush periods.

2.Cash handling experience.
1.Ability to lift minimum of 25 lbs. or more.
2.Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
3.Ability to travel between campus locations.
1.Duties performed in a usual retail and office environment as well as a warehouse setting and shipping/receiving dock area.

They also contain information about crime statistics for the three previous years for all JJC campuses, property owned and controlled by JJC District 525 and on public property immediately adjacent to JJC campuses.
This information is required by law and is made available by the Joliet Junior College Police Department.
