Position Description:
UCLA Recreation is a large department within the Division of Campus Life in Student Affairs with approximately 90 full-time career and contract and over 1,000 part-time employees. UCLA Recreation provides extensive access to a broad range of recreational activities and wellbeing services, and offers programming which encompasses the competitive, passive, social, cultural, and instructional aspects of recreational activity. In addition, the department manages 15 of the University's recreational and athletic facilities offering recreation, competition, and numerous multi-use options for student and university events.

Under the direction of the Youth and Family Programs Director (Recreation Supervisor, Principal), the Youth & Family Administrative Coordinator (Recreation Supervisor, Senior) participates in the programmatic and curriculum design and coordination of youth camps and oversees the recruitment, hiring, training, and development of a large part-time staff. The incumbent works collaboratively with the Youth and Family team to design a broad-based and well-balanced curriculum of summer camps, family programs, recreational classes, and outreach programs. The coordinator also works to develop and deliver programming to the general campus and works with the Recreation marketing unit to promote programs and special events. The incumbent is tasked to liaise with departmental and campus entities, assisting in youth-oriented staff training and serving as policy and training advisor for all programs related to youth. The successful candidate must possess the attitude and aptitude to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyle choices. An entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm for service and the cultivation of an inclusive, safe, and diverse environment for staff, members and guests are of the highest priority for the position.

The incumbent leads the charge for the ongoing challenge to recruit, hire, train and develop a diverse and qualified youth, instructional and program support staff to meet the programmatic needs and to reflect the diversity found among the program participants. Ensure youth programs are planned and executed in compliance with all necessary industry standards and best practices, health codes, county regulations regarding youth programming and childcare. Monitor the individual class/program income and expense budgets, ensuring reports and invoicing are done on a timely basis. Develop programs that meet the needs of diverse client populations which may include age-diverse, academically specific, physically, mentally or emotionally challenged participants. Include classes, special events or program themes respectful of different ethnic or cultural heritages.

In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
