Normal Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 4:45 pm

Job Summary: The Security Technologies Technician I performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance, repair or operation of access control systems, security systems, CCTV systems, and electronics.

Additional Department Summary: This position is required to perform skilled electronics related tasks at construction/renovation sites and existing facilities under varied light conditions, temperature extremes, and variations in noise pollution, heights and or other related hazardous condition.

Required Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience in an electrical or electronic trade environment; OR certification from a Vocational/Technical/Trade school and one (1) years of experience an electrical or electronic trade environment; OR an Associate's degree or higher in Electronics Technology or Electrical Engineering.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier. Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen. Must have or possess within 24 months of hire date the following training and certifications: Lenel Certified Level 1 (Core Training) and Certified Alarm Technician Level I.

Skills and Knowledge: Must have good oral and written communication skills, good planning and organizing skills, be detailed oriented. Must be able to work independently as well as work well as part of a team. Be able to use industry standard hand tools at all heights, some of our services take place in lift trucks, some in tight spaces. Must be able to lift, handle, and maneuver the tools, materials, and supplies of the job. Working knowledge of test equipment such as multi-meters, digital analyzers, battery analyzers, frequency meter, decibel meters, and communicating devices. Ability to read, understand, and follow plans, specifications, blueprints/floor plans, and instructions.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with Lenel products, GE security Products, Avigilon video products, Bold security products and ASSA Abloy door products. Two years of experience in an electrical trade environment, OR an Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology or Electrical Engineering or related degree and two years of experience in an electrical trade environment.
