General Summary

The University of Denver is seeking a talented professional to join our Advancement team as the Community Philanthropy Coordinator. The Community Philanthropy Coordinator is a part of the Global Networks team within DU Advancement. Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Community Philanthropy and Activation, this position assists with building a culture of philanthropy and generosity among University of Denver students, faculty, staff, and recent graduates. This employee must be a passionate ambassador for the University of Denver who is able to innovate in the field of constituent engagement and philanthropy. This employee will serve as an advisor to the University of Denver Student Foundation (DUSF), an Advancement based student organization focused on promoting philanthropy and engagement.

Essential Functions

This role is primarily responsible for working in collaboration with the Associate Director of Community Philanthropy and Activation to direct, manage, execute and evaluate all community philanthropy initiatives and to spearhead all special campaigns staged by the Creative Engagement team. Specifically:

  • Assist with the design of the overall strategy for community philanthropy and engagement initiatives through the University of Denver Student Foundation and Creative Engagement. This includes assisting with the design of the strategic plan and management of its implementation throughout the year.
  • Provide fundraising/stewardship consulting and training services to campus partners across the institution to help raise funds from the campus community for internal University causes. Actively solicit students, student groups, faculty, and staff for funds in support of University causes in-person, through events and through appropriate direct marketing channels.
  • In collaboration with Donor Relations and the DU Student Foundation, develop and execute effective strategies for donor relations and stewardship programs to thank students, faculty, staff and recent graduates for their support as well as educate them regarding the importance of long-term giving and the impact of alumni support to the University.
  • Serve as a point person for all emerging campaigns/solicitation channels by providing channel research as well as strategic and logistical planning. This includes working with individuals and teams university-wide to facilitate logistics including but not limited to: campaign appropriate online giving tools, web resources, social media resources, publicity and events. Managing, planning, and executing strategies for campaigns and organizing committee meetings cross-departmentally is required.
  • Work with internal team members to facilitate logistics for all emerging campaigns/solicitations, including creative and collateral, data and reporting, and integration with traditional channels. Regular, clear communication with all members of the Creative Engagement team is essential.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience (Veterans with equivalent combination of military certification/education and experience may substitute for the degree qualification)
  • 1 year of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education or similarly complex non-profit environment
  • Hands-on experience with student campaigns, crowdfunding, time-limited campaigns, or peer-to-peer fundraising
  • Experience working with volunteer boards or committees
  • Event planning and logistics experience
  • Experience in student and/or young alumni programming
  • Fundraising experience, including annual giving

Work Schedule
Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, some nights and weekends as required
