Rider University seeks an individual for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Counseling Services Program in the Department of Graduate Education, Leadership, and Counseling to begin on September 1, 2020.

The Rider University community is composed of faculty, staff, and students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. The student body is composed of approximately 4100 undergraduate students and 950 graduate students; these students come to Rider University from 82 countries, 43 states, and 2 U.S. territories. Almost 40% of Rider students are persons of color. Rider University is located in the ethnically and culturally diverse state of New Jersey, within close proximity to the New York, Trenton, and Philadelphia metropolitan areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for 18 teaching hours (six class sections) per academic year. In addition to teaching, the candidate will be involved in program development and assessment, including preparation for CACREP reaccreditation and advising and supervising graduate students in the counseling services program and serving on Department, College, and University committees. The candidate will be expected to carry out a research agenda and disseminate results in scholarly publications and at professional conferences.

Required Qualifications:

• Candidates will have an earned doctoral degree in counselor education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or have a related doctoral degree and have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013.
• We are seeking a candidate with expertise in teaching a variety of counseling courses.
• We seek a candidate who is committed to infusing multicultural issues across the curriculum and has experience with evidence-based treatments, previous counseling practice, and supervision.

Preferred qualifications:

• Candidates with previous experience or expertise in teaching and supervising fieldwork courses (e.g., practicum and internship),
• Candidates with training, experience, and/or a background in school counseling,
• Candidates with previous experience or expertise in teaching Psychopathology,
• Candidates with research agendas focusing on underserved and/or racially/ethnically diverse populations, particularly minority youth, and
• Candidates eligible for licensure and/or certification as an LPC or school counselor in NJ
