Position Qualifications - Responsibilities:

This nine-month, non-tenure track lecturer position reports to the Chair of the Department of Instructional Technology. This faculty member of Instructional Technology will coordinate and teach our undergraduate technology courses. Additionally, this faculty member will teach in the Instructional Technology graduate programs and must be eligible for graduate faculty status. The focus of these programs is to equip aspiring and practicing educators to improve student learning through the effective use of technology in B-12 settings. The lecturer will be expected to teach courses in face-to-face, off-site, and online learning environments. All courses are aligned to ISTE Standards for Educators (ISTE-E) and Coaches (ISTE-C). Other duties associated with this position may include advising M.Ed students and serving on committees. This faculty member may also engage in service commensurate with academic rank.

Required Education - Experience - Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

●Earned educational specialist or doctoral degree or its foreign equivalent in Instructional Technology or in a closely-related field by date of appointment
●Minimum two years successful teaching experience and/or technology coordination in B-12 schools
●Evidence of the ability to teach instructional technology to aspiring or practicing educators
●Evidence of the ability to support and integrate digital age learning through technology and innovative practice in B-12 settings
●Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with colleagues in an interdisciplinary environment
●Commitment to working in an environment that fosters diversity

The Bagwell College of Education (BCOE) is one of the largest and strongest educator preparation units in the University System of Georgia offering bachelor’s, master’s, educational specialist, and doctor of education degree programs. All educator preparation programs are accredited by the Georgia’s Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC). KSU’s Educator Preparation Provider (EPP) is the university’s umbrella organization for preparing educators and includes 13 departments from five colleges all of which collaborate on the design, delivery, approval, and accreditation of all educator preparation programs. The EPP serves as a model of university-wide responsibility for teacher education; field-based collaboration with practicing professionals and partner schools; infusion of technology for enhanced teaching and learning; and best practices for the inclusion of English learners and students with exceptionalities.

The Instructional Technology Department offers fully online masters, educational specialist, and doctoral degrees in Instructional Technology. Additionally, the Department teaches an undergraduate technology course required of Elementary and Early Childhood and Middle Grades/Secondary candidates. The Department teaches graduate technology courses for students in the MAT, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, and the Teacher Leadership programs. The Instructional Technology Department offers an Online Teaching Endorsement (OTE) which prepares B-12 teachers to teach in online and blended learning environments. The Department also offers a Personalized Learning Endorsement (PLE) to prepare candidates to personalize learning in the classroom. As innovative leaders in online learning, the Department created the first MOOC offered at KSU: K-12 Blended & Online Learning MOOC. The Department also serves as the home of iTEACH, a service unit providing technology-related professional learning to in-service teachers in the metropolitan Atlanta area.
