The Director will personally build and manage a combination leadership annual giving/major gift portfolio of 75 prospects capable of making gifts of $25,000 and up, and will work to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward new donors for the Center. The Director will continue to execute an existing engagement program for major gift prospects, including prospective donor trips to the Galapagos, and expand into local events here in the Triangle. The Director will coordinate with development directors at UNC schools and units who formally participate in the Galapagos Council, collaborating on gifts related to pan-university Galapagos initiatives.

The Director will be responsible for establishing a strategic vision and communications plan for the Center’s outward facing communications, managing and generating all communications, including public relations materials, media relations, web and other digital communications, key messaging, storytelling and development materials in support of the UNC Galapagos initiative. Working in close partnership with communications staff at the Galapagos Science Center, on San Cristobal Island, the Director will also be responsible for establishing connections and managing relationships with global members of the International Galapagos Science Consortium as related to development and communications, as well as with the Center’s strategic partner in the Galapagos, the Universidad San Francisco de Quito.
