Job Description
The Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) is an official university-level research center at Texas State University. The TxSSC is tasked in Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code and the Governor’s Homeland Security Strategic Plan with key school safety initiatives and mandates. The TxSSC serves as the clearinghouse for the dissemination of safety and security information through research, training, and technical assistance for K-12 schools and junior colleges throughout the state of Texas. As a result, Texas has become a national leader in school safety practices and is relied upon for assistance and guidance from jurisdictions throughout the nation.

This position will serve as the program manager and coordinate and ensure the administration of all grant deliverables as part of a federally funded training grant by the U.S. Department of Justice. This position will oversee the planning, coordination, promotion, and implementation of Sandy Hook Promise training workshops and data collection activities as part of the grant program. This position requires outstanding customer service skills, high attention to detail, multi-tasking and organizational skills, enthusiastic professionalism, and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Job Duties

•Provide grant coordination to ensure program compliance with and administration of all grant activities. This position will oversee the planning, coordination, promotion, and implementation of 80 regional training workshops and data collection activities as part of the grant program.
•Define and coordinate all grant deliverables and ensure timely completion of all grant deliverables.
•Oversee all aspects of event planning logistics from site selection, coordination with Education Service Centers, instructor contracts, communicating with participants, event registration, agenda, marketing, onsite staffing and post-event reporting
•Assist in promotion of regional workshops via email, web, and print
•Manage and track correspondence with participants and contractors
•Ensure grant budget is adhered to
•Oversee supplies and audio visual equipment as needed for events
•Prepare training materials, data collection, documentation, registrations lists, etc.
•Staff events and manage onsite event registration
•Compile data and information for internal, external, state and federal reporting requirements
•Work closely with technology staff and web-designer on layout, web content, and design
•Willingness to travel in-state to support training
•Perform other duties as assigned

Additional Information to Applicants

•This position is funded through a one-time grant through the Department of Justice (DOJ), which has been funded for 36 months. Grant ending is August of 2022.
•Extensive overnight and weekend travel to remote locations is required to support trainings and conferences, up to 60% of time during busy training periods.
•Required to work hours other than 8:00 – 5:00 as necessary.
•Must have valid Texas Driver’s License
