Program Specialist 2 - Student Research & Community Engagement - Project Position

The Program Specialist for Student Research and Community Engagement will function as an Assistant Director for the assigned programs related to Student Research and Community Engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead Student Research and Creative Works Symposium
  • Identify current practices for support of undergraduate research across Eastern
  • Coordinate and support Community Engagement projects
  • Provide periodic administrative support to the Associate Dean & Director of Community Engagement

Conditions of Employment

This is a project position budgeted through 6/30/2020. Position is eligible for extension based on continuing need, availability of budget, and performance.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (any field); preference may be given to candidates with a Masters degree
  • Teaching or training experience at the college level
  • Experience with undergraduate research; preference may be given to candidates with experience supporting undergraduates with their research and creative works
  • Demonstrated understanding of service learning and community engagement best practices
  • Event planning; preference may be given to candidates who offer this experience involving large scale events (over 300 participants)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with event planning software
  • Experience as a faculty member
