Assistant Professor – Multilevel Modeling Research and Evaluation Methodology Program (53307)

Location:
Gainesville, FL
Open Date:
Sep 20, 2019
Description:

Applications are invited for an assistant professor position (tenure-track) in the Research and Evaluation Methodology (REM) program in the College of Education. The successful candidate will hold a faculty appointment in REM (https://education.ufl.edu/research-evaluation-methods/). The REM program has seven full-time faculty and robust Ph.D. and Master’s programs that offer comprehensive methodological training in statistics, psychometrics, evaluation, and qualitative methods. Faculty in the REM program frequently collaborate on federally funded projects with faculty in other programs and centers in the College and the University, providing many opportunities for interdisciplinary research and grant collaboration.

The REM program aims to recruit a faculty member whose research focuses on analysis methods for multilevel data, broadly defined to include a focus on data from measurement, experimental, quasi-experimental, and observational studies. In education, datasets often have a multilevel structure, where observations are clustered by students, class sections, instructors, courses, institutions, states, and countries. Therefore, statistical methods to analyze data with a multilevel structure are critical to educational research.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting a program of research and scholarly publication in analysis methods for multilevel data
  • Securing external funding to support research and training agendas
  • Supervising graduate student research and teaching
  • Establishing research collaborations with faculty and students in education
  • Providing service to the university and profession

This is a nine-month tenure track position at the assistant professor level. Salary is negotiable, competitive, and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate is expected to begin August 2020. The University of Florida is strongly committed to diversity of its workplace. College of Education shares this commitment and eagerly invites applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply for the position.

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements include a doctorate in quantitative research methods, statistics, or a closely-related field. The applicant should have a history of successful grant funding or a clear path toward future grant funding; interdisciplinary collaboration; and publication in the area of expertise.
