Description:

The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure or non-tenure track faculty position in the University of Florida Health Aortic Disease Center located in Gainesville, Florida. Rank and tenure status will be determined based on education and experience. The successful candidate will have experience in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with genetic conditions and a proven record of excellent clinical care in a patient-and family-centered environment. This position will help provide inpatient consultations for patients admitted to the UF Health Aortic Disease Center, and outpatient continuing care in our multispecialty clinic in conjunction with genetic counselors. Basic science research will be encouraged and previous basic science research experience is preferable.

This position will report to the Director of the UF Health Aortic Disease Center at the University of Florida College of Medicine. Following is a general description of duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide genetic clinical care to patients in both an inpatient and outpatient setting in conjunction with genetic counselors.
  • Evaluate, diagnose and manage patients with genetic conditions.
  • Teaching and direction of residents, fellows and medical students as assigned.
  • Participation on committees to represent the Department of Surgery, the Division of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and the UF Health Aortic Disease Center as required.
  • Attendance at department faculty meetings and divisional conferences as required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must possess a MD degree, be BE/BC in genetic medicine, and be eligible for Florida medical licensure.

Preferred Qualifications: Basic science research experience
