Description:

The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida is seeking a Director for a new Center for Abdominal Transplantation Surgery. The Director will be hired at the Associate/Full Professor level with rank and tenure status determined on education and experience. The Director will be responsible for the ongoing development, growth and oversight/authority of the Abdominal Transplant Program. The Director must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and an understanding of the inter-dependent roles of the various allied health professions. The Director will be responsible for promoting high standards of practice through development of transplant policies, protocols and practice guidelines; participating in rigorous performance improvement monitoring; fellow and staff education and transplant research. In addition, the Director will have the authority to act on all abdominal transplant performance improvement initiatives within the health system. The Director will also be expected to participate in the on-going programs of the Department of Surgery, Health Center and University community. Clinical and education responsibilities will be focused on abdominal organ transplantation.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: M.D. degree or equivalent, and board certification in transplant surgery with a completed fellowship in transplant surgery are required.

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with five years clinical experience in transplantation and three years administrative experience skills are preferred.
