Description:

UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA LEVIN COLLEGE OF LAW seeks to hire multiple professors, across an array of fields, over the next several years as part of the university’s quest to become a top five public research institution. The University of Florida, located in Gainesville, FL, is currently the eighth best public research institution in the nation and the flagship university of the third largest state.

The College of law wishes to fill this Legal Skills Professor position in the fall of 2019, with teaching to begin in January, 2020. This position is a 12-month position to be filled by a candidate excited to teach and practice in our Veterans Advocacy Clinic. Clinic students work on benefits appeals, discharge upgrades and other issues affecting Veterans. Florida Bar licensure or a willingness to take the Florida Bar Exam in February, 2020 is required for this position.

Legal Skills Professors are non-tenured faculty members who participate in College of Law governance and committee work. After three years of successful teaching and service, Legal Skills Professors are eligible for five-year, presumptively-renewable contacts. Legal Skills Professors do not have scholarship responsibilities, but they are encouraged to participate in the scholarly life of the College of Law. All Legal Skills Professors are provided with salary, benefits, and professional development funds.

This UF classification of this position is a Lecturer.


Qualifications:

Successful applicants will have a J.D. and demonstrate strong writing and legal skills, potential for excellence in teaching and service, and a commitment to creating inclusive environments for students from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
