Description:

The University of Florida’s College of Public Health and Health Professions and College of Medicine invite applications and nominations for the position of Chair of Epidemiology. After impressive growth since its establishment in 2011, the Department of Epidemiology is seeking new leadership to advance to the next level of excellence. Key responsibilities for the new chair include strategic faculty hiring, expansion of the current academic and training programs, and guidance and leadership for increasing the department’s research and scholarly portfolio. Outstanding opportunities exist for building and expanding collaborative research programs.

The Department of Epidemiology (http://epidemiology.phhp.ufl.edu) is strategically positioned in both the College of Public Health and Health Professions and the College of Medicine at the University of Florida. Faculty members are jointly appointed to create synergies and collective strength, resulting in a strong, competitive research profile and highly trained students who receive exceptional exposure to diverse expertise. Under its founding chair, the department has achieved national leadership in epidemiology education and research. It has graduated 33 PhD students, formed a community engagement program named HealthStreet with more than 10,000 enrollees, and is home to two National Institutes of Health training grants. The department is located in the Clinical and Translational Research Building (CTRB) on the UF Health Science Center campus. The CTRB also houses the Department of Biostatistics and the Department of Health Outcomes and Bioinformatics, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute and the Institute on Aging, fostering collaborations across disciplines.


Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements: Academic qualifications should include either a PhD in Epidemiology, a clinical degree with additional epidemiology training, or equivalent training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a distinguished record of scholarly achievement, extramural funding, and mentoring and leadership experience commensurate with the rank of Professor.
