Nature of Work

The College of Coastal Georgia seeks qualified applicants for the position of Digital Media Specialist. Under the general supervision of the Director of Marketing and Public Relations, the Digital Media Specialist will implement the institution’s digital media marketing strategy and oversee all social media and website platforms.

Essential Duties
  • Responsible for user experience of the College of Coastal Georgia website and other interactive media as assigned.
  • Responsible for ensuring the appropriate and consistent use of the College’s brand on online platforms.
  • Takes the lead in scoping and shaping the evolution of Coastal Georgia’s website, ensuring that best practices are implemented and a customer focus is maintained.
  • Implements and administers the content management system (CMS), communicating with and managing key stakeholders.
  • Ensures website meets all regulatory and state policies for accessibility, which includes meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines for desktop and mobile access.
  • Implements the social media marketing strategy for Coastal Georgia’s primary sites, focusing on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube.
  • Executes all digital media activities (i.e., making web updates, posting, sharing, engaging, liking, etc.)
  • Creates, curates, and manages all published content (images, video and written) in collaboration with Director of Marketing and PR.
  • Oversees creative design (i.e. Facebook Timeline cover, profile pic, thumbnails, ads, landing pages, Twitter profile, and blog).
  • Completes internal audit of all college-related social media platforms.
  • Monitors trends in digital media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy.
  • Keeps abreast of all activities surrounding the university including student life, athletics, administrative, alumni, etc. and attends many of those activities.
  • Accountable for developing appropriate analytics and evaluating performance.
  • Conduct regular content analysis of all interactive media with relevant stakeholders to determine intended audiences and content needs as well as relevancy and accuracy.
  • Coordinates with Technology Services team to resolve any technical issues that affect execution of web marketing plans, web properties, and social media strategies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Training
  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • At least two years of experience with designing, building, and maintaining websites and social media platforms.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, a collaborative teamwork approach to work projects and a strong service orientation
  • Experience with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Content Management System driven websites.
Preferred Qualifications and Training
  • Knowledge of graphic creation software such as InDesign, Photoshop, Fireworks, or Illustrator is a plus
  • An up-to-date understanding of Web-related trends in higher education and previous experience in higher education are highly desirable
  • Experience with Google Analytics.
