Job Description:


Under the direction of the Dean of Health Sciences, the Part-Time BHWET Project Coordinator will be responsible for working closely with the Department Chair and grant Project Director on all aspects of the grant-funded Community Health Worker classes to ensure compliance with funder(s), community partners, and the success of Community Health Worker program for students.


Since 2017, HCC has received both Federal and State level grant funding to support free training and community health workers. This position is primarily funded under a Health Resources and Services Administration grant but may also be funded by other sources.


This is a six month, part-time, non-benefited position to fill staffing vacancy due to a temporary maternity leave.


DUTIES:


  1. Ability to work up to 18.5 hours per week, maintaining both evening and some Saturday hours for advising and student recruitment meetings.
  2. Maintains weekly communications with senior/key staff of the project and relevant college personnel.
  3. Maintains and implements proactive, weekly, advising practices with students enrolled in CHW course sequence under grant; to support students' needs and preparing them for practicum placement.
  4. Responsible during peak times for recruitment, admission, student enrollment and partner/community outreach.
  5. Assists Project Director in completing required reporting for grant activities.
  6. Coordinates practicum placements for students under grant-funded project(s) activities, including site visits with work site supervisors and supporting health center partners.
  7. Attends local and regional meetings of the CHW workforce as needed.


Requirements:


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Health Science, Public Health, Social Work, or another relevant degree in health and/or education, AND 1-2 years of professional experience in grant-related program coordination; Experience working with students; excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently, and written and oral communication skills; Must be proficient with the use of technology including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and web-based tools; Experience working with a diverse staff and student body.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bilingual in Spanish; Prior grant management, program management, and program evaluation experience; Some knowledge or experience in a community college setting or with adult learners.

COMPENSATION: $28.29/hour, no benefits


HOURS: 15 hrs/week with maximum of 18.5 hrs/week; 6 month position (January, 2020 to June, 2020) with possible extension


FUNDING: Health Resources and Services Administration Grant, with possibility of funding through another Community Health Worker training grant.

HCC has the highest transfer rate of any community college statewide, holding articulation agreements with more than 27 colleges and universities. Locally, HCC is the largest feeder institution for Westfield State College and UMASS Amherst.
