Reporting to the Manager of Accounting, the Accountant is responsible for maintaining the financial records to ensure all grant funds are consistent with audit standards. This position provides accounting support for College and Foundation grant funds, assistance in the grant closing process, and general ledger account analysis, while ensuring compliance with internal control systems.

Specific Responsibilities

• Maintain financial records of all grant funds consistent with audit standards.

• Perform grant accounting functions in accordance with GASB standards and coordinate budgets with grant coordinator.

• Perform variety of financial analysis on an as needed basis.

• Monitor and audit travel reimbursement, settlement forms, Septa key/cards log sheets/settlements, credit card expenses and purchase orders.

• Perform general ledger account analysis.

• Perform labor redistributions.

• Perform fringe benefits calculations and journal entries, including adjustments resulting from redistributions.

• Responsible for processing grant disbursements check requests, invoices and journal entries including scan and index for Banner Document Imaging System upload.

• Assist in grant closing process, including salary accruals and accruals of other expenditures; monitor for reversals.

• Provide support with inventorying equipment items purchased for grants according to the Funding Agency guidelines.

• Provide accounting support for College and Foundation grant funds.

• Ensure compliance with internal control system associated with area of responsibility.

• Deliver quality customer services to both internal and external constituents in a professional, helpful and courteous manner.

• Responsible for coordination of data collection and input of data for Federal Labor Effort Reporting.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree with a concentration or certificate in Accounting preferred. Any and all degree(s) must be from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

• Two (2) years of accounting work experience required.

• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail required.

• Ability to work independently and prioritize workload required.

• Good communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to interact with different departments required.

• Strong computer proficiency in computerized accounting systems required.

• Strong computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel required.

• Experience utilizing an enterprise-wide information system required.

• Demonstrated ability to perform problem-solving tasks through detailed analysis of financial transactions with minimal direction required.

• Ability to maintain sensitivity, respect and understanding for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a concentration or certificate in Accounting preferred.

• Banner, Argos and Tableau reporting tool experience preferred.
