Art-Visiting Asst Professor-PaintingDate: 10/24/2019 The Department of Art at Colby College invites applications for a one-year teaching position in painting at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning September 2020. A completed M.F.A., teaching experience at the college level, and a significant record of creative scholarship are required. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the campus community. Teaching load of 3/2 will consist of; Fall semester: Painting I, Upper-level Painting, Drawing I; and Spring semester: Painting II, Upper-level Painting. The successful candidate will teach in the state-of-the art Crawford Studios of Bixler Hall. Applicants should submit the following materials: a cover letter, curriculum vitae, three confidential letters of recommendation, statement of teaching philosophy and research interests, two syllabi (Painting I: including an approach to teaching color theory and perception in an oil-based curriculum; Drawing I: with an emphasis on structural drawing), 20 examples of your visual work, 20 examples of students’ work.
