The Culverhouse College of Business at The University of Alabama invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level in Management Information Systems (MIS) in the Department of Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science starting August 16, 2020. Candidates must have completed a doctorate in MIS or a closely related field by the start of the appointment. Current Assistant Professors are strongly encouraged to apply.
Candidates should demonstrate both an interest in conducting high-impact research and evidence of excellence in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching. Preferred candidates will seek to publish in journals featured on the UT-Dallas List (MIS Quarterly and Information Systems Research), the AIS Senior Scholars List (Journal of Management Information Systems and Journal of the Association for Information Systems), and/or technical outlets such as IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering or Decision Support Systems. We are open to all IS research topics and methods, but prefer candidates whose work complements ongoing faculty research activity, which includes information security, healthcare, systems development and delivery, and data science. Candidates with teaching interests in software engineering / programming, database management, data communications, or systems analysis and design are preferred. Having relevant professional experience is also a desirable trait for candidates.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and achievements. Prior to hiring, the candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation. Additional Position Information:

The MIS program in the Culverhouse College of Business supports a nationally recognized undergraduate MIS major, a new Master’s of Science in MIS, and growing specializations in the MBA and Ph.D. degree programs. The program is part of the interdisciplinary Department of Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science, creating opportunities for cross-disciplinary research and cross-publications in fields such as Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, and Statistics.
MIS faculty at The University of Alabama actively engage in the scholarly life of the Information Systems community, publishing in journals identified earlier, serving in leadership roles at the Association for Information Systems, MIS Quarterly, and Journal of the Association for Information Systems, and developing students through our award-winning AIS Student Chapter and a growing PhD program.
