Assistant Professor of Social Work – Tenure/Tenure Track
(One faculty position effective 8/16/2020)

Position Summary:
The University of Alabama School of Social Work invites applications for one tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2020. Areas of expertise are open. Successful candidates should have (1) a strong record of scholarship, (2) the potential to secure external funding, (3) a commitment to teaching and mentoring BSW, MSW, DSW, and PhD students; and (4) a demonstrated experience with, knowledge of, and sensitivity to the needs of culturally diverse and underrepresented populations and communities. The position requires a Ph.D. in Social Work or a closely related discipline, an MSW, and a minimum of two years post-MSW practice experience.

The University of Alabama’s School of Social Work, established in 1965, has an accomplished faculty of 23 tenured and tenure-track faculty members, 13 full-time teaching faculty members, and over 30 dedicated professional and support staff members. We have a vibrant student body with a combined enrollment of over 600 students across our BSW, MSW, DSW, and PhD programs. Additionally, our School is ranked among the top 50 Best Grad Schools for Social Work in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Salaries are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. New faculty are provided a generous start up package which includes a discretionary budget, a graduate research assistant, support for grant submission and administration, and a reduced teaching load in the first year.
