Job Description:

Fredonia, State University of New York invites applications for an Environmental Geologist at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure track, beginning Fall 2020. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Chair, the successful candidate will:

• Teach courses in Geology & Environmental Sciences, as well as contributing to our general education course offerings;
• Contribute to curriculum development and refinement;
• Provide academic advisement to students;
• Participate in Search Committees and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession;
• Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Ph.D. in Environmental Geology or closely related field by August 2020;
• Ability to teach Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, Cartography & other courses associated with a GIS minor;
• Ability to teach Environmental Methods & Environmental Assessment;
• Ability to establish a program of research in the candidate's area of expertise;
• Commitment to diversity and the needs of diverse learners;
• Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students; faculty, staff, and constituents in support of campus and department mission;

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Doctoral focus in Environmental Sciences/ Remote Sensing
• Experience in the application of geospatial technology including remotely sensed imagery & image processing techniques
• Teaching experience in Introductory Geology, Environmental Sciences, GIS, Remote Sensing, and/or Cartography
• Experience and interest in working with undergraduate students in research, directed studies, and field trips.
• Demonstrated commitment to the university, division and profession;
• Effective oral and written communication skills;
• Experience with instructional technology;
• Interest in, and commitment to, community engagement.

This is a full time, term appointed, tenure track, UUP represented position beginning August 2020.
