Purpose: In concert with the Clinical Director, develops and implements strategies that facilitate clinical site/preceptor recruitment, retention and alumni engagement, to meet or exceed the Physician Assistant program’s required clinical practice experiences.

Duties:

The specific responsibilities of the Clinical Recruiter, under the direction of the Clinical Director, include the following:

  • Participate in the development and subsequent implementation of preceptor recruitment and retention plans, strategies, and written materials.
  • Visit clinics, hospitals, places of employment, medical conferences, etc., to meet prospective clinical preceptors, hospital, and clinic administrative staff, human resource offices, etc., to promote outreach activities; coordinate community engagement and networking with prospective clinical preceptors.
  • Assist in organizing programs and events designed to promote community awareness of Physician Assistants, the scope of practice, and clinical services.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of alumni engagement plans and strategies.
  • Create and maintain a database of prospective and current preceptors and/or potential clinical rotation sites and incorporate these into the E*value program.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the databases related to health requirements, immunizations, drug screens and criminal background checks for all Physician Assistant students to ensure compliance with program policy and procedures.
  • Create and distribute resource materials for preceptor and rotation site recruitment and retention programs; develops mentorship programs; analyzes trends in recruitment and retention programs; and develops strategies to assist in continuous program evaluation.
  • Prepare reports and proposals; perform follow-up activities and respond to inquiries from clinical sites student contacts, and prior interactions;
  • Assist faculty/staff during high demand times as necessary and appropriate, including the return to campus events and faculty retreats.
  • Contribute to the team effort by welcoming new and different work requirements; exploring new opportunities to enhance the program; helping others accomplish the related job when necessary and appropriate.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Primary Contacts: Clinical contacts in the community, students, program faculty and staff, and other members of the University community.

Supervision Exercised: None

Supervision Received: Works under general direction toward program defined objectives; refers specific problems to the Clinical Director or Program Director when clarification or interpretation of program policies is involved.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Required Skills/Experience: Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office required. A minimum of 2 years of previous experience in medical administration, education, sales or in a health-related field is desired.

Work Environment, Physical Demands:

  • This position requires frequent travel, driving for extended periods, and walking from the car to offices, clinics or hospitals. The office may involve standing or sitting in one position for long periods. Multiple service hours; computer data input; multiple concurrent tasks with constant service interruptions; faculty and community contact; strict confidentiality; detailed work.
