St. Edward's University invites applications for a full-time, Lecturer position in the Department of Chemistry for the 2020/2021 academic year. This position is non-tenure track eligible for renewal.
Responsibilities- Primarily teaching sophomore level Organic Chemistry I and Organic Chemistry II laboratories. Additional duties may include teaching Organic Chemistry I lecture, General chemistry lecture and lab, and general education courses as needed.
- The course load is 4 courses per semester with laboratory curriculum coordination duties on both semesters of the academic year.
- Curricular coordination of the Organic Chemistry laboratory two-semester sequence. Coordination duties include:
- Curriculum development
- Assessment
- Preparation of laboratory manuals o Coordination of additional faculty teaching in this sequence
- Participation in Departmental service, meetings, and duties as determined in consultation with the department chair.
- Academic Advising of Chemistry majors as needed.
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related area.
- Prior teaching and curriculum design experience is encouraged.
- A commitment to broadening the participation of under-represented groups in STEM fields. We seek candidates interested in promoting meaningful interactions between students and faculty that help our majors develop both knowledge and confidence in the professional practice of science regardless of their background or outgoing career trajectory.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and a commitment to pedagogical innovation and implementing active learning in their courses.
- Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check is required.
