The Director of Recruitment and Retention reports to the Vice President of Student Success Services through the Executive Director of Marketing and Enrollment Management.

The Director of Recruitment and Retention must be a collaborative leader, working with faculty and staff to help support students along their journeys. The director will supervise a team of staff to provide exceptional student services and meet enrollment goals while embracing the mission and values of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.

Staff Required Education/Experience:

•Master’s degree
•At least three (3) years of supervisory work experience

Faculty Required Education/Experience Skills:Desired Education/Experience/Skills:

•Experience working with community college student populations.

•Highly self-motivated and directed.
•Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

•Provide college-wide coordination, oversight, and vision for a wide range of services, including recruitment/outreach, new student onboarding, first-year experience activities, career and academic advising, dual enrollment via the Career & College Promise program, and college-wide retention services.

•Participate in the development and implementation of new student orientation and other first-year experience activities. Provide support and leadership for both on-campus and online options.

•Improve matriculation of students from high school and collaboration with local high school counselors and teachers in support of the College’s dual enrollment program.

•Establish and maintain effective communication with prospective students through marketing, communications and recruiting strategies.

•Develop and execute a recruiting plan and strategy for the College, including sophisticated recruiting and enrollment plans that vary by program to ensure enrollment targets.

•Work with marketing to develop and implement plans and strategies for a variety of communications channels, including but not limited to social media, digital and traditional advertising, the website, newsletters, success stories, press materials, brochures, email campaigns, fact sheets, and videos that are used in marketing to attract prospective students.

•Maintain the master recruitment schedule with all scheduled recruitment events on an ongoing basis.

Business and Industry Services' staff provide customized support for the community through the Small Business Center, New and Expanding Industry Training and Focused Industrial Training. The Small Business Center is designed to assist small business start-ups and to help existing businesses grow. The college's New and Expanding Industry Training office has earned national recognition for cooperative training efforts with area industries. Focused Industrial Training designs innovative educational programs for the service region's manufacturing sector.

An important function of the college is to provide educational programs on the pre-college level. Literacy Services offer adults the opportunity for meaningful social and occupational growth through Adult Basic Education (ABE), Human Resources Development (HRD), and the High School Equivalency Program (GED).
