Full-Time Close All Job SummaryThe Department of Critical Media Practices (DCMP) welcomes applications for an Associate Professor. We are seeking candidates who have a proven commitment and dedication to cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary studies. Candidates should demonstrate scholarly and artistic engagement in media practices from a broad perspective. Expertise should include one, if not more, of the following: documentary media practices, sound practices, performance media practices, immersive media practices, media production, emergent technologies, or other related fields. This position will also contribute to our evolving undergraduate and PhD programs by providing leadership and a creative approach to pedagogy.
The successful candidate will demonstrate historical and contemporary knowledge of critical theory pertaining to media practice, and a professional record of creative achievement in media arts practices.

Who We AreThe Department of Critical Media Practices (DCMP) currently offers a BA in Media Production, a practice-led PhD in Emergent Technologies and Media Art Practices, and houses an MFA program in Interdisciplinary Documentary Media Practices. The department adopts a distinctive approach to the evolving landscape of creative media-making and the need to provide alternatives to conventional academic compartmentalization. In addition to working with faculty throughout the college (CMCI), our campus collaborators include faculty from Anthropology, Art and Art History, Dance, English, Cinema Studies and Moving Image Arts, Cultural Geography, Music, and Theater. Facilities include technologically sophisticated lab/production capabilities, and campus resources such as the ATLAS Institute and NEST (Nature, Environment, Science & Technology) Studio for the Arts.
Established in 2015, the College of Media, Communication and Information is at the forefront of the revolution in communication and digital technology. CMCI prides itself on offering students an interdisciplinary education with a focus on innovation and creativity. Our students and faculty from six departments and an independent PhD program think across boundaries, innovate around emerging problems and create culture that transcends convention.
