Position Summary

The Odum School of Ecology at the University of Georgia (http://www.ecology.uga.edu) invites applications for a full-time Lecturer (non-tenure track). The full-time Lecturer position will contribute to the instructional offerings in our B.S. and A.B. undergraduate degree programs in ecology and will provide support for administering these programs.

This is a 9-month academic position with an additional 1-month of summer salary provided for programmatic duties. Responsibilities include teaching 4 to 5 courses per year, including introductory courses in general Ecology and/or Environmental Science, a service-learning course focused on Environmental Management or Policy, and other courses to be developed based on expertise and programmatic needs. The successful candidate will also contribute to the program by advising upper-level undergraduates, coordinating student internships, promoting degree programs, and participating in orientation, recruitment, and commencement events. Additional Requirements

Candidates must have a PhD in Ecology, or a terminal degree in a related field, such as sustainability, conservation biology or environmental policy.

The successful candidate will show evidence of excellence in teaching, an ability to collaboratively support a growing academic program, and have excellent organizational skills. We seek candidates who are passionate about quality undergraduate education and who can contribute to the mentoring of students interested in either traditional ecological science careers (through the B.S. degree) or in careers focused on the translation of ecological science into policy, management, or other applications (via the A.B. degree).
