Salary: $60,000.00-$70,000.00

The College of Mathematics and Sciences (CMS) is comprised of six departments which all have the goal of engaging students through inquiry, innovation, and technology. Our academic focus is centered around our desire to learn about and improve the human condition and the natural world. Students are prepared for entrance into the workforce or advanced studies due to a strong academic foundation and experiential learning opportunities, such as internships and undergraduate research. CMS includes approximately 65 full-time faculty and 1000 students.

General Statement of Duties:

The Biology Department of Westfield State University seeks talented applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in Invertebrate Biology beginning September 1, 2020. The successful candidate will be an invertebrate biologist with an emphasis in parasitology, and have a record of outstanding teaching at the undergraduate level.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but not limited to:
Essential:

  • Teaching Invertebrate Zoology, Parasitology, and Introductory Biology courses, and student advising.
  • The successful candidate will also be expected to lead research involving undergraduate students.
  • Candidates should have the ability to work in a collegial environment and participate in service (committee work, etc.) in the department and University




Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Biology (or a related discipline) with a specialization in parasitology, invertebrate biology, or a related field. ABD completed before September 1, 2020 will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching college-level Invertebrate Zoology and/or Parasitology.

Salary is to commensurate with qualifications and experience.
