The College of Mathematics and Sciences (CMS) is comprised of six departments which all have the goal of engaging students through inquiry, innovation, and technology. Our academic focus is centered around our desire to learn about and improve the human condition and the natural world. Students are prepared for entrance into the workforce or advanced studies due to a strong academic foundation and experiential learning opportunities, such as internships and undergraduate research. CMS includes approximately 65 full-time faculty and 1000 students.

The Department of Psychology at Westfield State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning September 1, 2020.

General Statement of Duties:

  • The position would have an expected 4/4 teaching load, with particular responsibilities for teaching in the rotation of the following courses: PSYC 0201 Theories of Personality, PSYC 0303 Abnormal Psychology, PSYC 0322 Theories of Counseling, PSYC 0323 Counseling Theory & Practice.
  • The successful applicant will have opportunities to develop and teach courses in their specific area(s) of expertise.
  • The successful applicant would be invited to participate in the MA Counseling graduate program and/or assist in the development of an addictions concentration and/or degree.






Requirements:
Required qualifications

  • A doctorate in Psychology or counseling related field (ABD will be considered) by the time of employment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Candidates holding a mental health counseling license (e.g., LMHC, LPC) and/or having expertise in working with addictions are particularly desired
  • Westfield State University has a strong commitment to a diverse community of scholars.
